The City of Maricopa, located in South Central Arizona, started as a stagecoach stop and then became a train junction (Maricopa Wells) for over a century. Incorporated as a city in 2003 with a 2000 census count of 1,040 population, Maricopa’s population has mushroomed to nearly 50,000 today, making it one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
Maricopa is the only U.S. city located between two Indian Communities, the Ak-Chin Indian Community and the Gila River Indian Community, so, it is only fitting that we include short films of Native American stories submitted by Tribal Nation members throughout the United States and Canada.
Join us in February, 2019 for Copa Shorts Film Fest. And, unlike in much of the United States at that time of year, you might want to bring your sunscreen.
