Tech launches
Apple iPhones, AirPods and Watches
Earlier this month, Apple announced multiple new devices.
- The iPhone 16 ($799) is built with an A18 chip and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera that has four times the resolution of the iPhone 14, according to the brand. There’s also customizable action buttons and a camera control button. The iPhone 16 comes in standard and Plus ($899) models. The iPhone 16 Pro ($999) is a more premium device with a nicer screen and camera. It’s also available in a Pro Max model ($1,199).
- The AirPods 4 are Apple’s most comfortable earbuds yet with the best sounding audio and the smallest charging case, according to the brand. Apple sent Jordan Bowan, NBC Select commerce editor, a pair to test. “I’ve noticed that the audio sounds a lot better compared to my old AirPods, and the noise canceling is really good for an open earbud,” he says. “Usually, you need a good seal for good active noise cancellation, but these work really well and are incredibly lightweight.” You can purchase them with ANC ($179) or without ($129).
- The Apple Watch Series 10, which starts at $399, has the biggest display yet, the thinnest overall design and the fastest charging capabilities. Among many new fitness and health tracking features, it can alert users to possible sleep apnea.
- Other launches include the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in black, as well as the AirPods Max with USB-C charging, plus three new colors. An updated version of the AirPods Pro 2 will also soon have a clinical-grade, over-the-counter hearing aid feature. Additionally, Apple will begin rolling out its AI features through Apple Intelligence on select devices.
JBL Tour Pro 3
The latest iteration of JBL’s Tour Pro earbuds have an upgraded design and over 15 new features, including their ability to double as an audio transmitter. You can plug the charging case into the headphone jack on the back of a plane’s seat, for example, and wirelessly connect to in-flight entertainment. The earbuds also have an Auracast receiver and broadcast capabilities. You can share audio content with any Auracast-enabled device by tapping a button on the smart charging case, which has a screen that displays information about music, calls and texts. The earbuds also have adaptive noise canceling technology that adjusts to the environment you’re in.
JBL sent Bowman the Tour Pro 3 headphones to try. “They have a well-balanced sound that has rich detail and a nice sense of bass and vocals,” he says. “The noise-canceling is also effective. I was easily able to block out the sound of the subway during daily commutes.” Bowman appreciates the headphones’ long battery and says that while their case is quite large, it’s a tradeoff for all of its features.
Life360 Tile Trackers
Life360, the maker of Tile trackers, debuted an updated lineup of devices that perform better than their predecessors and have new safety features. There are four types of trackers, each of which pair with the Life360 app: Tile Mate, Tile Pro (coming soon), Tile Slim and Tile Sticker. They all now have a built-in button that activates a Life360 SOS alert when you press it, which sends your location to your emergency contacts. You can also use the Life360 app to ring your Tiles or a connected phone, helping you find your items. The updated trackers have an extended Bluetooth range and a louder ring, and are compatible with iOS and Android devices. You can buy them in black and white, or four new colors: Pink Punch, Green Surf, Navy Blaze and Aqua Lemon.
GoPro Hero13 Black
Compared to previous models, the GoPro Hero13 Black has a 10% larger capacity, more energy efficient battery, faster Wi-Fi 6 technology and more customizable audio tuning. It also has a magnetic latch mounting system, in addition to the built-in mounting fingers.
GoPro Hero
The Hero is GoPro’s smallest, most lightweight and lowest cost 4K camera to date with a screen. It’s water-resistant up to 16 feet, has a LCD touch screen and, on a full battery, can continuously record for up to 100 minutes on the highest video setting. It has built-in mounting fingers and you can replace the lens cover.
Ring Battery Doorbell
Compared to the previous model, Ring’s Battery Doorbell offers a 25% longer battery life, according to the brand. It also has a new head-to-toe video feature, which lets you see a tall, full body view of someone when they’re at your door. The device comes with a push-pin mount so you can remove it from your wall when you have to recharge the battery and then easily re-attach it. Like all other Ring doorbells, this one lets you livestream video and audio footage via a companion app, get real-time motion detection alerts and talk to visitors.
Evie Ring
The Evie Ring just relaunched after the brand updated it based on feedback from the initial release earlier this year. The health tracker, which is specially designed for women, is designed with sensors that collect data about your heart rate, sleep and exercise. Its companion app offers analysis about this data, plus lets you log additional information about your mood and energy levels. The Evie Ring also has a menstrual health insights feature and it automatically detects activity. It’s eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement. The ring’s app is currently only compatible with iOS devices, but will soon support Android devices.
Beauty and skin care launches
TheraFace Depuffing Wand
Therabody makes some of our favorite skin care devices. While they usually incorporate LED lights, this portable wand uses hot and cold temperatures to reduce puffiness and improve skin elasticity. The wand has a contoured applicator tip to reach all the corners of your face and comes with three temperature settings. The cold setting decreases puffiness, and the heat setting helps improve the absorption of your skin care products, as well as improve dull skin for an overall glow, according to the brand.
Solawave Eye Recovery Pro Mask
This adjustable, FDA-cleared eye mask uses four forms of light therapy to target common skin care concerns in about three minutes, according to Solawave. Red light therapy helps minimize the appearance of fine lines, near-infrared therapy improves dull skin and firmness, deep red light therapy firms and lifts the skin, and amber light reduces puffiness and discoloration. Anyone above 22 years old can use the mask three days a week for the best results, according to the brand.
Eadem Smooth Slate Ingrown Relief Serum
Eadem has officially entered the body care realm with this serum that combats ingrown hairs on your face and body. It’s able to do so by using alpha hydroxy acids to untrap ingrowns, shea butter and allantoin to relieve irritation after hair removal, azelaic acid to help with dark spots, and yellow daffodil extract to slow down hair growth, according to the brand.
“Unlike your standard face serum, this one is so easy to use and is a mess-free experience since it’s more like a balm that melts when you roll it over your skin,” says Bianca Alvarez, NBC Select associate reporter, who received a sample weeks before its official launch. “Although it uses chemical exfoliants to achieve its results, my dry, sensitive skin doesn’t get irritated, and instead, it actually feels cooler, softer and more moisturized. The best part is that after applying, I can put on my clothes immediately since it doesn’t cause any staining.”
Dieux Baptism Cleanser
Diex released its first-ever cleanser this month, a daily, fragrance-free, gentle foaming option suitable for all skin types. The rich jelly-like cleanser removes makeup, sunscreen and dirt without stripping skin of moisture. Instead, it reinforces your skin barrier and moisturizes the skin with ingredients like glycerin and betaine, according to the brand.
Eucerin Eczema Relief Hydrogel
Eucerin makes some of Alvarez’s favorite eczema relief products. Expanding its lineup, the brand launched its new steroid-free, fragrance-free treatment. This cooling, lightweight gel helps soothe irritation and discomfort associated with eczema, relieves itchiness and strengthens the skin barrier for everyone three months and older, according to the brand.
Innersense Body Care Collection
Innersense, a brand we love for its hair care, just entered the world of body care. Its recent collection includes four products: Inner Glow Body Scrub, Awaken Body Wash, Renew Body Lotion and Blissful Body Butter. These items focus on brightening, increasing moisture and improving elasticity. They use Vitarevive Trio as their hero ingredient, a blend of vitamin B5, vitamin C and vitamin D.
Alvarez received all four products before the launch, and the body butter is her favorite. “Now that we’re transitioning into winter, my skin needs all the moisture it can get, so this thick moisturizer is a perfect addition to my routine,” she says. “Plus, it feels so luxurious and its floral citrus scent subtly lingers for a few hours.”
La Mer Rejuvenating Night Cream
This night cream uses a retinol alternative (along with other ingredients) to combat fine lines and uneven texture while increasing plumpness, softness, firmness and radiance, according to the brand. Because it uses a retinol alternative, it decreases the chance of irritation or sensitivity, making it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. As the final step in your nighttime skin care routine, use the accompanying spatula to scoop a small amount of the moisturizer and work it from your face to your neck, according to La Mer.
Ultra Body Mega Moisture Squalane Cream
One of Alvarez’s favorite launches to come out of September is this body lotion, which she says is the ideal moisturizer for those with dry or sensitive skin, or who live in colder areas and need intense moisture. “I’ve been dealing with a few eczema flare-ups lately, so I’ve been avoiding putting anything on them, but this cream has been my saving grace,” she says.
The thick, lightweight, fast-absorbing cream uses ingredients like squalane and ceramides to repair and strengthen the skin barrier, as well as hydrate and lock in moisture. “It also gives me peace of mind knowing it has the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance,” says Alvarez, who received a sample from the brand. “Overall, I cannot recommend this enough. My skin is less cracked and visibly less dry, and when I wake up in the morning, my skin still looks and feels how it did when I applied it.”
Osea Hyaluronic Lip Booster
This sweet mango-mandarin lip oil from Osea uses hyaluronic acid to plump the lips as well as seaweed to condition them for a soft feel, according to the brand. Suitable for all skin types, it can be used as often as needed, both morning and night, on its own or as a finishing gloss since it has a sheer, high-shine look.
Hair care launches
Olaplex No. 10 Bond Shaper Curl Defining Gel
New to Olaplex’s lineup, this gel defines curls while repairing them. It’s made with coconut-avocado milk that helps reduce breakage, according to the brand, and offers a flexible hold while reducing frizz. The gel also protects against humidity and heat damage up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Olaplex sent Zoe Malin, NBC Select associate updates editor, its curl gel to try, which she’s been using for about a month. “My hair is very thick, so not all gels I’ve tried are strong enough to hold it, and those that are usually make it crunchy,” she says. “Olaplex’s, however, defines my curls while keeping them soft, shiny and bouncy all day. It even makes my second-day hair look great, which is quite the feat.”
Act + Acre 4% Niacinamide Oily Scalp Serum
Act + Acre’s oily scalp serum has niacinamide in its formula, which helps control excess oil and odor, reduce oil production, extend the time between washes and balance the scalp, according to the brand. The serum is lightweight and fast-absorbing. Act + Acre recommends using it as a leave-in treatment on damp hair post-shower.
Seen Haircare Leave-In Conditioner
Seen’s color- and keratin-safe leave-in conditioner focuses on six tasks: hydrating, strengthening, smoothing, nourishing, heat-protecting and UV-protecting. Suitable for all hair types and textures, the lightweight leave-in is free of common irritants and is non-comedogenic, so it’s ideal for sensitive, acne-prone skin, according to the brand.
Moroccanoil Scalp Care Collection
Adding its tenth collection to its hair care lineup, Moroccanoil released seven products to address hair health right at the scalp. One of these products is a sulfate-free shampoo suitable for all hair types and scalp conditions. It uses salicylic acid, niacinamide, argan oil and Japanese cherry blossom to gently exfoliate, reduce flakes, prevent oil buildup, calm the scalp and improve scalp hydration, according to the brand. In addition to the shampoo, the collection consists of a pre-wash scalp scrub, conditioner and scalp tonic, plus treatments for dry and oily scalps and a massage brush.
Footwear launches
Alo Runner
This sneaker is Alo’s first running shoe, and it’s available in unisex sizes (the brand recommends ordering half a size up). It has a heel stabilization system, cushioning in the midsole and heel, and a breathable mesh upper. The sneaker’s grippy outsole offers traction on the track, road and treadmill. It also has reflective details, making you more visible while running outdoors in low light.
Hoka Mach X 2
The latest edition of the Hoka Mach X trainer has a more prominent rocker outsole to help you roll through each step, a higher stack height thanks to additional foam and cutouts underfoot to reduce the shoe’s weight. There’s also a winged plastic plate between the sneaker’s two layers of foam to add support and help propel you forward. The sneaker has a gusseted tongue so it stays in place while you run, a breathable woven upper and reflective details. You can purchase the Mach X 2 in men’s and women’s sizes.
Allbirds Lounger Lift
Allbird’s latest slip-on sneaker is designed with an organic cotton canvas upper, a wool-lined insole and a padded heel collar. It has a supportive platform midsole that’s made with the brand’s SweetFoam material, which is a sugarcane-based foam that offers a cushy feel. You can machine-wash and air dry the Lounger Lift sneakers for easy cleaning. They’re available in men’s and women’s sizes.
Apparel and accessory launches
Bombas Ultra Stretch Calf Sock
Bombas makes some of our favorite socks, and if you’re looking for something a little more cozy than standard cotton, yet still lightweight, the brand’s new Ultra Stretch Calf Sock is a great option. It’s available in men’s and women’s sizes, and is made in part from Extra-Long Staple Cotton. The socks gently hug your midfoot, so it has some built-in arch support, and they have a soft, stretchy feel from their open-knit design. You can wear them straight or scrunched down.
Calpak Connect Collection
Calpak’s new Connect Collection includes a backpack and duffel, both of which cost under $100, making them some of the lowest priced bags the brand offers. They’re made from recycled nylon and have a padded laptop sleeve as well as multiple interior and exterior pockets, including one that fits a water bottle. The backpack comes with top handles and adjustable shoulder straps, and the duffel is designed with a separate shoe compartment, luggage sleeve and removable strap.

They’re available in three inseam options (regular, petite and tall). You can purchase the pants in sizes XS to 3XL.

Home and kitchen launches
Oxo Rapid Brewer
With this portable handheld brewer, you can make hot or cold coffee concentrate in minutes. It comes with a carafe that you place under the coffee basket, which you fill with grounds. There’s also a chamber you add hot or cold water to. The built-in rainmaker shower head pours water over the grounds to soak them, and after about five minutes, you press down on the brewer’s pump to press the coffee concentrate into the carafe. Then, you can dilute it with water or milk. The Rapid Brewer has a stainless steel filter and comes with a tamper. It doesn’t require plugs, batteries or charging, and all parts are dishwasher-safe.
Caraway Enameled Cast Iron Cookware Collection
Carway’s cast iron cookware collection includes four pieces, each of which you can buy individually: a skillet, grill pan, Dutch oven and braiser. All cookware is made with a scratch-resistant, three-layer enamel coating and can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can use it on the stovetop or in the oven. The cookware is also available as a set, which comes with a storage organizer.
Ghia Le Fizz
Le Fizz is a ready-to-drink, bubbly non-alcoholic wine alternative from Ghia, one of our favorite women-owned brands. It currently comes in a strawberry orange blossom flavor that’s dry, tangy, zesty and juicy. Le Fizz doesn’t have any added sugar or artificial flavors, and it’s vegan. You can purchase the beverage in a pack of two or six.
